Under Article 22 of the EU AI Act, non-EU providers must  appoint an Authorised Representative before making AI systems available in the EU. This ensures that EU regulators have a local entity for oversight and enforcement. The representative must report breaches if a provider fails to meet AI Act obligations. Without an Authorised Representative, non-EU companies cannot legally market high-risk AI systems in the EU.
